Not always. Many homes already have sufficient capacity for a standard 7kW charger. During our site survey, we’ll check your supply, consumer unit, and earthing arrangements. If an upgrade is needed, we’ll coordinate with your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to make sure everything is safe and compliant.

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant (also known as the EV Chargepoint Grant for renters and flat owners) is a UK government-funded initiative, administered by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). It helps cover the cost of buying and installing a smart home EV charging point for eligible households.

There is no limit to the cost or the brand of the EV Charging Point, but the grant is a maximum of £350 or 75% of the charging unit cost – whichever is lower.

Yes — most chargers are compatible with all major EVs, so your existing unit will work if you change cars. And once the main wiring is installed, the charging point itself can be easily swapped or upgraded to suit future vehicles or faster charging speeds.

You can still charge your EV using on‑street chargers, community charging hubs, or council‑approved cable solutions. We’ll also guide you to the best local public networks to keep charging simple and convenient.

You may qualify if you own a flat or rent a property with private off‑street parking, have an OZEV‑approved EV or PHEV, and use an OZEV‑approved installer. The grant covers up to 75% of costs (max £350).

Yes — EV chargers must be hard‑wired for safety, reliability, and compliance. Standard 3‑pin plugs aren’t built for sustained high power, so a certified hard‑wired installation is essential.

The infrastructure we install for your EV charging point is future‑ready for Vehicle‑to‑Grid (V2G) technology. While some additional regulatory steps may be required once the government fully rolls it out, the short answer is yes—if you choose a V2G‑compatible charging point, which are already available on the market. However, it’s important to note that most chargers currently in use are not V2G compatible, so selecting the right unit is essential if you want to benefit from this feature in the future.

Yes – we can supply and install cable gullies, covers or conduit routes to safely run your EV charging cable across driveways, paths, or other access points. This prevents trip hazards, keeps your cable protected from wear and tear, and ensures your installation remains neat and compliant. If a gully is required, we’ll discuss this during your site survey and include it as part of your installation plan.
