Do you work outside Wiltshire?
Yes. Commercial and industrial work is delivered UK wide from our base in Chippenham. Our domestic work is regional, covering Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol and the surrounding towns.
Can you cover electrical, mechanical and fire and security on one contract?

How often does a commercial property need an EICR?
There is no fixed interval set in law. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require the installation to be maintained so that it does not cause danger, and periodic inspection is how you evidence that. IET Guidance Note 3 recommends maximum intervals of five years for offices and shops, three years for industrial premises, and one year for leisure premises. Your insurer or your lease may set something shorter, so check both.
Who is responsible for electrical safety in a leased building?
Regulation 3 of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 puts the duty on the duty holder, which is whoever has control of the installation. Under a full repairing and insuring lease that is usually the tenant for everything inside the demise, with the landlord retaining the common parts and the incoming supply. The lease is the document that decides it, so read it before assuming.
What standard do commercial fire alarm systems need to meet?
Fire detection and alarm systems in non-domestic premises are designed, installed and maintained to BS 5839-1. The current edition is BS 5839-1:2025, which superseded the 2017 edition on 30 April 2025. Anything quoting BS 5839-1 without a year is worth querying.
