EV Charger Installation in Chippenham & Wiltshire

We install 7kW and 22kW wall-mounted chargers for homes and workplaces, in both tethered and untethered configurations. We work with Easee, Myenergi, Simpson & Partners, EO, and Andersen, among others. We’ll recommend a unit based on your supply, your vehicle, and where the charger needs to sit.

Most home installations don’t require planning permission, provided the charger meets size and placement rules. If your property is listed, in a conservation area, or in a flat or apartment block, you may need landlord or council approval. We’ll check this with you before any work starts.

A tethered charger has a cable permanently attached. You grab it and plug in. An untethered charger has a socket, you use your own cable, whatever length suits you. If you only charge one vehicle, tethered is more convenient. If you have two different EVs or want a tidier look when the charger’s not in use, untethered gives you more flexibility.

Not always. Many homes already have enough capacity for a 7kW charger. During our site survey we check your supply, consumer unit, and earthing arrangements. If the board is out of date or the supply can’t take the additional load, we’ll explain what’s needed and can coordinate with your DNO if required.

Grants are available for some customers, such as renters, flat owners, and businesses. Homeowners with a driveway have not been eligible since 2022. If that is you, it is worth knowing that a driveway installation is usually one of the simplest and most cost-effective jobs we carry out, with fewer complications than a flat or a rented property, so the price is often more reasonable than people expect. Most chargers are compatible with all major EVs, so your existing unit will work if you switch cars. Once the main wiring is installed, the charging point itself can be swapped or upgraded without major additional work.

All new home chargers installed in the UK must be smart-enabled. That means app control, off-peak scheduling, and energy monitoring come as standard.

If you don’t have a driveway or garage, you can use on-street chargers, community charging hubs, or council-approved cable gully solutions. We can advise on the options available in your area.

Yes. EV chargers must be hard-wired into a dedicated circuit for safety and compliance. A standard 13A plug isn’t rated for the sustained load of an EV charger, and a plug-in installation wouldn’t meet current regulations.

The wiring and infrastructure we install is compatible with V2G technology. Whether you can use V2G depends on the charging unit you choose, V2G-compatible chargers are available now, but most standard units don’t support it. If V2G is something you want to use in the future, we’ll make sure you get the right unit from the start.

Yes. If your cable needs to cross a driveway, path, or shared access point, we can supply and install cable gullies, covers, or conduit to keep everything protected, tidy, and trip-free. We’ll identify this during the site survey and include it in your estimate.
